Day 3 Reflection Technology Academy
Day 3 Reflection
PLN time- I found a new site to use. http://www.educreations.com/
Also read TED.com, more sites on flipped classroom teaching and senorjordan.com.
I used educreations.com to create the video. I wanted to try screen o matic or Powtoons.
The recording process was easy. I am sure when I use Powtoon it will be more challenging and fun to use.
I had some challenges with how much time it took to put this together. Im sure some solutions will be found tomorrow in class.
The lesson itself uses a lot of technology. There are multiple ways for the students to access the lesson plan.
The student sample I used was recordmp3.org to record the Spanish Alphabet.
As far as Bloom's Digital Taxonomy recording and reciting the Spanish alphabet falls under the Application level.
The lesson gets to the Evaluatiing level with the summary of WSQ sheet and online quiz with GoSoapbox.com page.

Day 2 Reflections Technology Academy
In your blog, reflect back over your day's work. Include what you learned today from the following:
PLN time - what new resources did you find?A few resources I found today were educationweek.com and samantharing.com/lakewood.htm.
I learned a lot from the webinar. Have multiple options for the students and parents to inform and receive feedback about what is going on in the classroom. Set clear expectations for students and teach them to be accountable for who they are and what they do.
The lesson I am using will cover the Spanish alphabet and numbers 0 to 20.
The web tools are www.recordmp3.org, www.GoSoapBox.com, www.quia.com and youtube.com
Day 2 Solutions to Barriers
Day 2 Post
Solutions to 4 Barriers
As a teacher in your classroom, you are a leader. Remember that leaders always come with solutions! Think about the barriers that you listed. As a leader, what can you do to help overcome these barriers? What resources can you tap into that can help you overcome these barriers? Include any websites, blogs, videos, etc. that you find with solutions or suggestions for overcoming or minimizing these barriers.
1. The first barrier to using infused technology in the classroom would be lack of access to technology at home due to lack of access to the internet.
I would set up times before school or after school for the students to use the internet at school. We could also use a partner system where they could find a classmate or friend who has internet access.
2. The second barrier is the learning gaps that some students have due to lack of familial support at home to excel in school. A lot of our kids have to work or help take care of their siblings.
I would like to have a monthly family movie night that would get the parents here. We could provide movies and food. The kids could have access to the internet and get work done as well as entertainment. Maybe even provide an ESL class for parents.
3. The third barrier is lack of adequate infrastructure of technology at our campus. A new wiring system is being installed to remedy this. We also had a lot of netbooks that were needed repair for various reasons.
By getting new google books and rewiring the system this should fix it.
4. The last barrier to infusing technology is the willingness overall of the staff to adapt to the technology and implement it in a collective effort that connects all the subjects with technology.
For the Spanish/ FL Dept we have an Edmodo Site to communicate, share, etc new ideas and check on how things are going. It would help when we plan to do some cross curricular planning that way we can plan and extend the learning in our class to other classes. It makes the kids think when we tie in some pieces of another subject to our own. The kids question why are you teaching math, history, geography, etc. if this is Spanish class. My response is there is always something to learn. Multiple perspectives equal more information to pull from and hopefully increased learning.

Day 1 Technology Academy Reflection
Today I learned several things about how to use technology to increase student learning.
1. By improving my PLN I can gain access to multiple sources of information specific to the classes I teach.
2. Focusing on the technology TEKs will ameliorate my infused lessons plans and daily lesson plans to increase the student's ability to be successful with 21st Century Skills.
3. In regards to Twitter, I learned how to follow using hashtags and search for subjects that pertain to my teaching field.
4. Blogging and RSS feeds were also emphasized as other ways to stay in touch with parents and students. I will be more proactive with my blogs and search for some RSS feeds that can help with my classes.
5. I am thinking about employing a flipped lesson over the Spanish alphabet and numbers 0 to 20.
What are my top 4 Barriers to Infused Technology
Top 4 Barriers.
For your first blog entry, what do you feel are the 4 top barriers you face that make the infusion of technology more difficult?
